SUMMARY:Regional Workshop – Austin Cary Forest (University of Florida)\, FL
DESCRIPTION:The AmeriFlux network is growing and we see an opportunity to connect teams to foster networking\, knowledge sharing\, and support between new and experienced PIs\, site technicians\, early career scientists and students. This workshop is not a mini-Annual meeting nor a science meeting. This is a one-day classroom (July 22nd\, 2025) (incl. site visit to US-SP1) workshop aiming to bring site teams in the region together and create a lively space to discuss all things eddy covariance (not science). During the lunch break we will have the possibility to visit US-SP1 on-site. For those wanting to visit the nearby Ordway-Swisher Biological Station (https://ordway-swisher.ufl.edu/) and the NEON (https://www.neonscience.org/field-sites/osbs/) eddy flux site (AmeriFlux ID US-xSB) we are offering a half day field excursion on July 23rd as an option.

SUMMARY:2023 AmeriFlux Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, we will host the meeting in hybrid mode. This meeting is open to anyone who works with eddy covariance flux methods or datasets\, including early career scientists! \nA full in-person meeting will take place in the middle of Massachusetts\, US\, with visits to the historic Harvard Forest Research site. We are trying to arrange the plenary session again in an outdoor tent. \nPresentations and breakout discussions will be open to virtual attendees as much as technically feasible. Certain agenda items (site visits\, walks\, in-person poster session) may not be accessible to virtual attendees (but if you have creative hybrid-meeting ideas\, please reach out). Virtual attendance will be free this year. A virtual poster session will take place in the week after the in-person meeting\, giving all a chance to attend. \nAs always\, all feedback and suggestions are welcome. Please feel free to reach out to any of the organizing committee members (listed below) with your thoughts. \nAbstract submission closes July 23 – Find more info on the meeting homepage.

This is an informal\, interactive workshop to learn from each other and AMP about how to run a safe site\, collect high-quality measurements\, and publish your data with AmeriFlux. We will cover a range of topics that are relevant to data providers\, in hands-on\, interactive sessions. Registration is free\, lunch for two days will be provided (outdoors) for in-person attendees\, and in-person attendees need to organize their own travel+accommodation. The classroom portions and the calibration lab visit will be held at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. A lactation room is available in the same building\, an all gender restroom is available in the adjacent building. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Christin Cbuechner@lbl.gov to discuss other accommodations. \nWe will also do a site visit to a flux site in the Sacramento Delta\, about 2 hrs drive from Berkeley. \nWorkshop format – If possible\, we encourage site technicians and data providers to attend this workshop in person\, to take full advantage of the site visit\, lab visit and informal networking opportunities. We will gladly make the ‘classroom’ sessions available via zoom and do our best to discuss specific cases with online participants throughout the workshop. \n  \nTo vote for proposed topics or suggest your own\, please fill out THIS FORM. SUMMARY:AmeriFlux Town Hall at 2020 AGU Fall Meeting
DESCRIPTION:As of this writing in April 2020\, scientists in many countries are working under stay-at-home orders. Although the AmeriFlux network has strong virtual connectivity and ecosystem flux research continues apace\, 2020 brings a field (and education) season like no other. Therefore\, in addition to popular AmeriFlux town hall activities\, this year we are adding new activities. For the former\, come learn about opportunities for 2021 and news of the network. We will wrap up the first theme year\, on Methane\, and launch the next. Celebrate successes\, like honors to colleagues\, funding opportunities\, and new data products. Join a conversation with other flux scientists and chart priorities for the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP). New for this year\, we’ll launch activities for mentoring\, connecting\, and collaborating—which can take place locally or virtually\, designed for people at different career levels\, experience with fluxes\, and locations across the Americas and world. These will include regional mini-workshops and facilitating peer-to-peer mentoring. The town hall will feature short\, structured interactions to strengthen and celebrate our connections. This town hall is hosted by AMP and attracts a broad audience of ecologists and Earth scientists\, early career and senior\, from around the world. See you there!

SUMMARY:AmeriFlux Town Hall - AGU Fall Meeting 2019
DESCRIPTION:Session Title: AmeriFlux: Flux Synthesis and the Year of Methane \nHoly Cow! AmeriFlux has added 100 new sites since Spring 2018. As of April 2019\, the network has 425 eddy covariance sites arrayed across North\, Central\, and South America. Come hear about new AmeriFlux sites in the Amazon. Speaking of cows\, we are now well into our first theme year for network action: The Year of Methane. To enhance the quality and visibility of methane-flux science\, the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) is providing technical\, data\, and community support\, including LI-7700 instrument loaners and a flux-data portal. We are also hosting open workshops with the Global Carbon Project’s methane synthesis project\, Coastal Carbon RCN\, and others. On the CO2 front: come learn about the next generation of flux synthesis products (and the new open access code\, ONEFlux) and the international preparation for the next FLUXNET synthesis data release. AMP would like your input on how we can support your science. As always\, the town hall is also a good time to discuss your interests\, priorities\, and concerns\, and catch up with your colleagues. See you there! \nCoauthors:\nMargaret Torn\nSebastien Biraud\nDeb Agarwal\nTrevor Keenan\nStephen Wai-Yin Chan\nDanielle Christianson\nHousen Chu\nSigrid Dengel\nGavin McNicol\nDario Papale\nGilberto Pastorello\nDan Stover

SUMMARY:2019 AmeriFlux Annual Meeting and Early Career Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the AmeriFlux Annual Meeting and Early Career Workshop are being held on Tuesday\, September 17th – Thursday\, September 19th\, 2019 in Boulder\, Colorado\, at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel. In a break from previous years\, we have decided to hold the AmeriFlux Data/Tech Workshop separately and\, with a new focus on inclusivity and Early Career Researchers\, the meeting name has been changed from the AmeriFlux PI Meeting to the AmeriFlux Annual Meeting. In particular\, there will be a half-day Early Career Workshop (to include a site tour at NEON HQ) on Tuesday\, September 17th\, in conjunction with the AmeriFlux Annual Meeting being held on September 18th and 19th. This year’s annual meeting will have a strong focus on CH4 (with multiple parallel breakouts) to celebrate the Year of Methane.

SUMMARY:AmeriFlux Decadal Synthesis Workshop—Berkeley
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now closed. If you have questions\, contact Trevor Keenan\, Chair for this meeting. \nThis workshop will focus on decadal synthesis\, combined with the integration of flux measurements with other data sources (remote sensing\, inventories\, tree rings\, phenology\, etc.). We will also explore priorities for future eddy-covariance research\, and outline a general synthesis of advances over the past decade. \nWe envisage that this workshop will provide opportunities for new synthesis groups to form and grow. Time for these discussions will be set aside. Organizers for this workshop: Chair Trevor Keenan\, and Co-Chairs Dave Moore and Ankur Desai. \nNote: For this workshop\, AmeriFlux Management Project is covering costs for space\, refreshments and logistical support. AMP will also be able to offer limited support for travel awards for those in need. It will be held at Berkeley Lab. Most attendees should expect to cover their own expenses for travel and lodging.
