SUMMARY:ICOS SCIENCE CONFERENCE
DESCRIPTION:Abstract submission to ICOS Science Conference extended due to COVID-19 pandemic – virtual event a possibility. \nAbstract submission open until Monday 11th of May \nDue to the current situation\, the deadline to submit abstracts has been extended until Monday 11th of May 13:00 CEST. Please submit your abstract through ICOS webpages: www.icos-cp.eu/sc2020/abstract- \nThe 4th ICOS Science Conference will be held in the Netherlands from Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th of September 2020 in TivoliVredenburg\, Utrecht. The overall\, overarching theme of the conference is “Knowledge for shaping the future – understanding the Earth’s biogeochemical processes”. \nThe Integrated Carbon Observation System\, ICOS\, is a European greenhouse gas research infrastructure. It produces standardized data on greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere\, as well as on carbon fluxes between the atmosphere\, ecosystems and oceans. This information is being used by scientists as well as by decision makers in predicting and mitigating climate change. \nMonday 14th and Friday 18th will probably be dedicated to excursions and side-events\, so be sure to reserve the whole week in your 2020 calendar!

We are very honoured and excited to host the next AsiaFlux 2020 – 22nd – 24th September 2020 in Kuching Sarawak MALAYSIA\n\n\n\nAsiaFlux is a regional research network bringing together scientists from universities and institutions in Asia to study the exchanges of carbon dioxide\, water vapor\, and energy between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere across daily to inter-annual time scales.\nIt is a highly specialized conference organized by the Malaysian Peat Society (MPS)\, Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI) and AsiaFlux Scientific Steering Committee and co-organized by the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) and Hokkaido University. \n\nWith the central theme\, “Understanding Tropical & Subtropical Ecosystem Processes”. We are planning to have a special issue in Agricultural and Forest Meteorology to celebrate this special meeting. This special issue will consist of a collection of scientific reviews and papers resulting from presentations at the conference. In addition\, this special issue will be open for submissions of any papers which are relevant to the theme of the meeting. \n\nThe main aim is for this Conference to act as a platform to create awareness to the government\, the industries\, and the people especially potential young scientists from South East Asia such as Indonesia\, Philippines\, Thailand\, and Vietnam\, on the importance of GHG Cycling in guiding sustainable land use policies in the region.
