SUMMARY:FLUXNET Meeting – 2025
DESCRIPTION:The FLUXNET meeting will be held in Brisbane\, Australia\, July 8-10\, 2025 (plus an optional field site visit July 11th). The meeting will be hosted by the University of Queensland St Lucia campus\, near Brisbane city center. This year’s theme will be Expanding International Collaboration through FLUXNET\, and we welcome attendees from a wide range of disciplines. The meeting is organized by the FLUXNET Coordination Project in collaboration with OzFlux and Australia’s Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN)\, and is sponsored by TERN. \nThe meeting will include talks\, posters\, and breakout discussions\, along with plenty of time for informal discussion with colleagues. There will also be a field trip to a nearby field site\, with the exact location to be determined. Please see below for more detailed information:

SUMMARY:Regional Workshop – Austin Cary Forest (University of Florida)\, FL
DESCRIPTION:The AmeriFlux network is growing and we see an opportunity to connect teams to foster networking\, knowledge sharing\, and support between new and experienced PIs\, site technicians\, early career scientists and students. This workshop is not a mini-Annual meeting nor a science meeting. This is a one-day classroom (July 22nd\, 2025) (incl. site visit to US-SP1) workshop aiming to bring site teams in the region together and create a lively space to discuss all things eddy covariance (not science). During the lunch break we will have the possibility to visit US-SP1 on-site. For those wanting to visit the nearby Ordway-Swisher Biological Station (https://ordway-swisher.ufl.edu/) and the NEON (https://www.neonscience.org/field-sites/osbs/) eddy flux site (AmeriFlux ID US-xSB) we are offering a half day field excursion on July 23rd as an option.

SUMMARY:Bridging the Gap: Flux Data Meets Land Surface Models
DESCRIPTION:With the rapid expansion of the flux community and the upcoming FLUXNET Data System Initiative\, hundreds of new global sites will soon contribute eddy covariance (EC) data to community flux networks. As community interest in using flux data for validating and parameterizing land surface models grows\, there remains a steep learning curve for both flux and modeling communities due to the technical expertise required for members of either scientific community. The use of EC data in modeling requires an understanding of the models’ core components and assumptions\, as well as an understanding of EC data limitations and processing\, where the utility of EC data in modeling differs significantly depending on the type of model being used and the scale that it operates at. Insufficient understanding of either component has the potential to hinder scientific advancement and can even lead to misinterpretation of findings. \nThe workshop will be held in person in Berkeley\, California. Registration has closed.
